Who We Are

Bringing Hope and Restoration in our Communities

The Sendi Ian Foundation is a family made of people from all over the country who are working together to ensure that the forgotten have a place to belong.

In 2007, we started a local soccer academy in Kampala, Uganda to give hope and life to the City. Since then, we’ve reached orphans, street children, and other disadvantaged kids giving them a home where their physical needs such as shelter, clothing, feeding, and health care can be met. We've also come alongside vulnerable women and young adults, equipping them with skills and empowering them to be the mothers and leaders God has called them to be.

Our prayer is that we give each one of these a chance at a better future—a future full of hope.

The challenges facing our communities have changed over the years, but our vision remains the same. We are followers of Christ committed to spreading the Good News and caring for community.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Sendi Ian

As a child, I engaged in and led a number of charity projects within and outside of the high school I attended. They included raising money to support children and families who were economically and socially outside the reach of mainstream services and support like orphans and street children.

Our work also involved starting and maintaining a mutual benefit partnership with students and schools in Northern Uganda that had been severely set back by the Kony guerilla war that had lingered for over 20 years.

Our projects ensured that such students and families would continue getting reliable access to scholastic materials and other basic needs. It was that experience and background that prompted me in 2007 to launch the Sendi Ian Foundation, a Uganda-based non-profit serving marginalized children and families within Kampala and the surrounding communities.

When I left College School in 2008, I joined Mukono Christian University in 2009 and Makerere University that same year until 2012 when I moved to the United States.

I joined FC Minneapolis in 2014, and I have been blessed to continue living and playing here while supporting the work of our Foundation and the many young people in Uganda who look up to me for guidance and support.
